After a year, the feeling of emptiness got intense and I began seriously asking myself why I was feeling the way I felt. I opened this up to one of the sisters in our department. Whenever we met and had a chance to talk, she would advise me to listen to what the Lord was trying to tell me and pray. In the morning, upon entering the pergola I would proceed to the school chapel and pray. That was my daily routine and visiting the blessed sacrament helped me a lot in my discernment. I finally decided to take the exam. I shared this with my friends, who also had the inclination to enter the convent. Actually, she was more serious that I. So we took the exam at the Formation House, Marikina. We both passed , but she did not pursue her plan of entering the convent. I was the one who continued the journey following what the Lord was telling me that time. Nobody knew about my plan of entering the convent, not my close friends, my mother ,sister or brother. So I gave myself ample time to decide and to ask permission from my mother.
I gave myself a deadline and finally made a decision. In 1979 I resigned from my work thinking that I would enter by May of the same year. However, my entrance was not easy and smooth, since nobody from my family supported me and everyone was against my entrance. So my plan did not materialize. I just stayed home. I got sick and had to be operated on for my gall bladder. Time flew and I got well.
Truly, God had some plans for me. While I was resting, I received a call from my Principal wanting me to visit her and asked if I still wanted to teach. Of course , I said Yes. After our talk, she gave me a Search-in invitation to which I responded . It was so fast that I found myself responding to the call of God . It was Fr. Bonafe,SJ who advised me , “ Follow what the Lord is telling you and the rest will be taken care of by Him , Try joining the Missionary Benedictine Sisters, since you know some of the sisters. ” So after the retreat I did not go home. The Vocation Directress helped me and brought me to Holy Family Academy, Angeles City for my aspirancy. After some days, I informed my sister through a telephone call that I was with the sisters in Angeles City and she understood my message. Then on May of 1981, the entrance date for postulants my family brought me to the Formation House in Marikina.
YES, MANY ARE CALLED BUT FEW ARE CHOSEN! I was not so serious when I took the exam and my family was against my entrance , yet God paved the way !
